Why vinyl
Away from the noise
Most of us listen to Qur’an on the same devices we use for everything else. Messages, calls and notifications are always close.
Vinyl makes the experience slower. You choose the record, place it on, and give the recitation its own space.
That is the feeling we wanted to bring back.
OUR STORY
How it started
Assamaai was started by us as a couple, based in Denmark, with a simple idea: to create something physical around Qur’an recitation. Something you could hold, gift, display and return to.
The name Assamaai is inspired by the Arabic word السَّمَاع "as-samāʿ " meaning listening or hearing. It reflects what we wanted the project to be about from the beginning: not just sound, but listening with more attention.
That idea became Assamaai: carefully made vinyl releases, with selected recitations, thoughtful design and a slower way of listening.
Looking Ahead
Building slowly
We are not trying to release everything at once. Each record is developed carefully, from the recitation to the artwork and final product.
Our aim is to build a collection that feels meaningful, beautiful and worth keeping.
